Dense with sacred intention, this Tibetan woodblock carries centuries of devotional craft in its surface — every character of Uchen script and every auspicious symbol cut with precision into dark, seasoned hardwood.

OBJECT DETAILS An ideal piece for collectors of Buddhist ritual objects, interior designers sourcing objects of cultural and spiritual depth, or for film and TV prop buyers seeking authentic period Himalayan set dressing.

A rectangular hardwood printing block, carved in relief on the principal face with dense columns of Uchen script — the formal printed script of Tibet — surrounding a central figurative composition. Iconographic border panels incorporate fish, endless knot, and further symbols from the Ashtamangala (Eight Auspicious Symbols of Tibetan Buddhism). The lower border carries a continuous meander motif. The reverse bears a carved double dorje (vishvavajra) — the crossed thunderbolt symbolising absolute stability — with a hanging cord fitted. Tibetan, in the tradition of woodblocks used for printing prayer flags and devotional texts, circa 19th to early 20th century. No maker's inscription identified.
