Lit from within, these two cylindrical lampshades become something extraordinary — real pressed flowers, ferns, maple leaves and pansies suspended in warm amber parchment, casting a soft botanical glow into any room.

OBJECT DETAILS An ideal pair for interior designers sourcing rare handcrafted vintage lighting accessories, or for collectors seeking an authentic piece of 1970s European decorative craft. These are a matched pair of handmade cylindrical lampshades in amber parchment, each embedded with a rich arrangement of real pressed and dried botanical specimens — including pansies, wild roses, ferns, maple leaves and meadow flowers — in warm ochre, amber, rust and soft yellow tones. The top and bottom edges are finished with a hand-whipstitched leather cord in dark brown, and the base fitting features three turned wooden ball feet on a metal spider ring. Style: botanical / folk craft / naturalist. Material: parchment, real pressed botanicals, leather cord, wood, metal. Era: circa 1970s. Origin: France or Italy. Maker: unknown, handmade.

DIMENSIONS Each shade: H 30cm × Diameter 13cm (H 11.8" × Diameter 5.1") Sold as a pair.

CONDITION REPORT In very good vintage condition, consistent with age. Parchment intact on both shades with no tears or splits. One shade has a very minor surface irregularity to the parchment near the fern stem — this does not affect the overall shape or structure of the shade and is barely visible when displayed. Pressed botanicals retain their colour and detail throughout. Leather whipstitch intact on both edges of both shades. Wooden ball feet present and intact. Metal spider ring fitting present on both shades. Minor surface dust consistent with age and storage. Photographs form part of this description. Please review all images carefully as they document the piece's condition in full detail.

CURATOR'S NOTE Selected for their rarity and the sheer quality of their botanical content — these are not printed lampshades but genuine handcrafted pieces, each flower and fern real and pressed by hand. When lit, the amber parchment glows warmly and the botanical silhouettes come alive. A pair is exceptionally rare to find; two identical shades, side by side, in this condition. Perfect for a bedside table, a dressing table, or as decorative objects in their own right.
