There is a quiet solemnity to this cast bronze holy water stoup — its stepped Gothic base, trefoil arch handle, and deep dark patina speak of devotion and craftsmanship from another age.

DESCRIPTION:

An ideal piece for collectors of antique religious metalwork, interior designers sourcing Gothic or ecclesiastical decorative objects, or film and TV prop buyers seeking period-accurate devotional pieces for Victorian, Gothic, or period European set dressing.

A wall-mounted holy water stoup cast in bronze, in the Gothic Revival tradition. The vessel rises from a stepped, tapering square pedestal base through a flared basin — the form architectural in character, recalling the stonework of medieval ecclesiastical interiors. The fixed carrying handle terminates in a trefoil arch — a defining motif of Gothic ecclesiastical design. The flat reverse confirms original wall-mounted use. No maker's mark visible. Hand cast, consistent with European workshop production of the late 19th to early 20th century. The deep, uniform dark patina is entirely natural and authentic.

H 18cm × W 10cm (H 7.1" × W 3.9")

CONDITION: In very good antique condition, consistent with age and use. Rich, deep dark bronze patina throughout — entirely natural and highly desirable in antique religious metalwork. No cracks, no repairs, no structural damage. Structurally sound. Flat reverse intact for wall mounting.

CURATOR'S NOTE: Selected for its architectural severity and the exceptional quality of its patina — this is devotional metalwork of genuine character. Equally compelling as a collector's piece, a scholarly reference object, or a dramatic accent in a Gothic or eclectic interior.
