This substantial Art Deco vase features a trumpet-form collar, relief spiral handles, and matching oval medallions to both front and back of the body, finished in a richly mottled, cratered "orange peel" glaze characteristic of reduction-fired Bohemian pottery of the interwar period, with contrasting deep chocolate-brown relief detailing to the handles and medallions. Impressed mold number 10423 to the base sits within the same numerical sequence as confirmed Ditmar Urbach examples (10225, 10377, 10913), supporting attribution to this Czech workshop, renowned for exporting decorative ceramics across interwar Europe. Among collectors, this family of forms is informally known as the "Alien Ware" series, a trade term consistently used across the secondary market, though its precise origin as an official factory name remains unconfirmed.
